Elementary

Our Elementary class consists of three groups of classes, Primary for children ages 3 - 4 years old, Middler for children ages 5 - 6 years old and Junior class catering to children ages 7 - 12 years old. We uses the ‘Kids Quest Catechism Club’ curriculum (www.gcp.org). It is a comprehensive curriculum which uses Bible stories, music, skits, activities and much more to teach children that they were created in God's own glory and to apply this purpose to their life. The curriculum allows the children to learn and understand the basic principles of Christian faith founded on Biblical truth; principles such as the attributes of God, the fall of men as well as the doctrine of redemption through to the consummation.

The 'Kids Quest Cathecism Club' curriculum was chosen beacuse its teaching does not only stop at moral development, but it also engages the children's faith in Jesus Christ. This is important for as Robert J. Keeley wrote in 'Helping Our Children Grow in Faith', “faith and moral development are both important but they are not the same thing. A moral is teaching that shows correct character or behavior. A faith lesson is a reflection on the story that helps us thinks about who God is, who we are, or what our relationship with God is like." Therefore we believe that it is crucial to teach the Catechism early to children, as it would allow them to grow spiritually on a solid foundation, enabling them to stand strong against challenges of the future in school and their other social enviroments.

Elementary Class Update:

July Update (Updated July 19, 2010):

Praise the Lord that we have concluded Volume one of Kid’s Quest Catechism! The children have also recited all questions and answers in front of the congregations and sang a song to conclude Volume one lessons.
In the month of June, we started teaching volume two of Kid’s Quest Catechism by emphasizing to the children the importance of confessing their sins and believing in Christ Jesus as their only Savior. Moreover, children were also taught that once they are acknowledged as God’s children, they need to commit to have a holy live and that the Holy Spirit will always guide them in their daily lives.

This month, our children will learn on how believers in the Old Testament were saved, and the action that they have taken to show their faith. Children will also learn that Christ as the promised Messiah has fulfilled the three offices, i.e., the offices of a prophet, of a priest and of a king.

We pray with this lesson, children will start to understand the basic doctrine of Christology and to deepen their true faith in Christianity. Below is our lesson plan for the month of July:
